I thought I'd put my best tweets in one place to find them easier
If you like any of the tweets, feel free to retweet it!
I am a self-taught developer with a Computer Science degree.
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 27, 2020
What do I mean? Everything I use in my job I learnt in my free time while at University.
How did my university help me? To create a debt, and to fill space in my CV.
Dear JUNIOR devs:
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 18, 2020
👉 Always speak up your mind
👉 Your knowledge IS NOT EQUAL to your human worth
👉 You're valuable for your company
👉 You don't have to know/memorize everything
👉 Always look to progress
👉 Never keep your head down
You can be successful even if you:
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 19, 2020
- watch Netflix sometimes
- eat fast-food once in a while
- "waste" a week relaxing and not doing anything "productive"
- don't exercise for a few days
- don't work 100 hours per day like Elon Musk
Stop letting sm "success" put pressure on you.
Dear fellow juniors or beginners:

Googling stuff is not a sin. That's what a programmer does.
Googling stuff is not a sin. That's what a programmer does.

People spend money on everything.
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) March 4, 2020
But will they spend money on something to improve themselves? No.
$10 for a course on Udemy? Too expensive.
$40 a month for a subscription on Frontend Masters? Too expensive.
Will they support someone with $1/month on patreon? Too expensive.
If you're new to or already in tech, you don't have to:
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 21, 2020
👉 listen to 50 podcasts per day
👉 listen to podcasts/tutorials in your sleep
👉 do 10 hours of coding before and after work
👉 code a Facebook-level app every weekend
Have a life outside work. ☀️
I don't know how you define success, but for me success is:
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 27, 2020
- loving what I do
- going to work happy
- spending time with my wife and family
- being able to work from anywhere
- making enough money to live comfortably and fuel my hobbies
What is a success for you?
Google is here for a reason. Don't try to cram everything into your brain. You will fail, and you will get frustrated.
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 28, 2020
Nail the basics down. You can, and you should use Google, Stack Overflow and so on for anything else.
Work smart, not hard.
If you are a junior developer, listen to what a senior developer has to say.
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) March 3, 2020
Every senior developer was once a junior developer, but not vice-versa.
So in 99% of the cases he/she is right, and knows what he/she is talking about!
Be open/receptive and you'll learn a lot!
The problem with beginners (including myself) is that they are comparing themselves with experienced devs.
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) March 2, 2020
We want to have the knowledge of a senior developer after 3 months of working.
Let's chill, and enjoy the process! With time, we will become senior developers as well! 🙏
Junior devs: "I don't ask questions. I don't want them to think I am stupid."
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) March 2, 2020
Senior devs: "What can I learn from a junior dev? They should stop suggesting me stuff."
Both should leave their ego at the door. It doesn't help anyone.
Each developer has 2 moods:
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) March 2, 2020
* I am a genius
* I have no idea what I'm doing.
Which state are you in today? 😂 https://t.co/YYZ4HQpFHM
If I ever start my own company, I don't care:
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) March 2, 2020
- what your gender is
- what your nationality is
- what your colour is
- what your education is
- what background you are coming for
If you're a nice human being and you can code, I'll hire you!
I love #programming because it breaks all barriers!
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 23, 2020
Are you disabled? You can code.
Are you blind? You can code.
Are you a woman, man, teenager? Who cares? You can code.
You don't have formal education? You can code.
All you need is a machine, internet and willingness.
On Twitter anyone can pretend to be someone else.
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 23, 2020
Just because a random dude says he is a #JavaScript dev that makes 400k/year by coding only in his sleep, doesn't mean it's true.
Don't compare yourself to anyone & don't put pressure on yourself. 🙂
I don't care:
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 26, 2020
- who you are
- how many followers you have
- how much money you make
- how much influence you have
- what company you work for
If you don't help others you are nobody for me. You've been in the same position once. Never forget where you come from.
Do you want to fight Impostor Syndrome? Look at the developers below you.
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 7, 2020
Do you want to get more motivated? Look at the developers above you.
Do you want to be happy? Don't compare yourself to anyone.
One thing that really frustrates me are (some) senior devs that forget where they started from. You have to beg for them to guide/help you.
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 1, 2020
If you ever become a senior dev, don't forget where you started from!#Programming #Coding #CodeNewbie #CodingNewbie
Goal: get so good at software development that companies want to hire me directly.
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 29, 2020
No interviews.
AWS is taking over. Why not learn & get a certificate?
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 28, 2020
Also, internet is absolutely everywhere now. Why not learn a bit of networking?
It will come a time where web development won't be enough. Make yourself as marketable as possible.
On Twitter anyone can pretend to be someone else.

I really fell in love with CSS.
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 22, 2020
You take a blank canvas and start to create.
CSS devs should be called CSS artists, cause this is an art!
A bad job is better than no job!
— ᴄᴀᴛᴀʟɪɴ ᴘɪᴛ 💡🚀 (@catalinmpit) February 20, 2020
Stay in a bad job, improve your skills, and get a better job.
Make the most out of your situation.
